General Manager Update (August 3, 2018)

8/3/18 General Manager’s Update

Phase III:

Happy Friday to everyone.  Appaloosa is where my construction tech has been placing white flags.  He has completed the east west portion last week and I see some utilities have been marked.  Today, my construction tech was starting to flag routes on the north south part of Appaloosa.

The drop crew is finishing up in Edgewood Circle.  They will make their way to Appaloosa next week.  They will stay on Appaloosa until they have completed everyone who has signed up.

The splicing team that follows the drop crew was working in the Maple and Willow areas.  They will try and stay close to the drop crew.

The final group is the install team, where they have been active in the Foxfire area.  They will continue to move safely and quickly around the property.  We are doing our best to get everyone hooked up ASAP.

A request that I have for the residents in Loma Linda.  We have some terminals that are in the right of way, please do not deface these.  We discovered one today where an individual screwed something to our terminal.  These are designed to be waterproof and any holes in the unit could lead to outages down the road.  Thank you for understanding.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Todd Van Epps

General Manager Update (July 6, 2018)

7/6/18 General Manager’s Update

Phase III:

We at Optic Communications had a safe and happy 4th of July, I’m hoping that you all did as well.   I had the chance to drive around for a bit this morning and wanted to say thanks to the people I had a conversation with.  Please be careful in this heat. Now to the latest update.

Our drop team observed some extra holiday time off this last week so there was not as much activity completed as normal weeks.  They will be back in action starting right away on Monday and continue with the motion they started in the Willow area. They also started to place piping in the Butterfield Place area so we continue our progress across Butterfield.  All the rock in the Loma Linda makes for a slower working process, but the team is persistent and they do a quality job.

One of our splicers was at the intersection of Rosebud & N Loma Linda Dr.  Watch for those trailers to be parked in strategic areas, that is when the fiber is being put together to transmit light up to your premise.  They will continue to follow the drop team around.

My install team continues to get services installed quickly and we appreciate you making and keeping appointments so we can move to your neighbor quickly.

Thank you,

Todd Van Epps

General Manager Update (June 22, 2018)

Good morning Loma residents.  It is time for my weekly update about where my teams are working.  First off, I’m sorry to those residents that are experiencing the sudden shutdown of Wisper.  That is certainly unfortunate for those customers and company to have such a critical event on short notice.  I’m certain that with this change of events some residents of Loma Linda will be looking for options. My teams will continue to press forward as safely and quickly as possible.  If a resident had elected to bypass the Optic offering in Phase I or II there will be a longer timeline to you receiving service. We are committed to completing installs to our Phase III customers that have been patiently waiting for their services and we would like to thank those customers for their continued patience.  The $500 installation fee will also remain for Phases I and II. The installation fee will remain at $250 in Phase III

Now to the 6/22/18 update.

Phase III:

Our construction tech has flagged drop routes along Butterfield starting from Fox Fire going Northeast to Willow.  His efforts include Maple Drive, Willow Way, & Willow Lane.

The drop crew has completed the Rock Creek area and have moved over to the Fox Fire Drive area.   What you will see after the drop wire crew is complete will be a gray box and conduit that will be mounted to the side of your home with a fiber drop coiled up.

The splicing team is following closely behind in the Rock Creek area.  They are fusing the splices between the main fiber and your drop as well as prepping the tail that was left in the grey box at your home.

My installing team is the last step.  When you get a call from our installer trying to set up an appointment, please get back to us ASAP.  This team follows closely behind the splicing team to ensure that we are completing your services in a timely manner.

Thank you,

 Todd Van Epps
